Flexible TPU & Gel Cases

TPU is the everyday material: soft enough to fit and remove without levering, grippy enough to stop a phone sliding off a car seat, and quiet when it is put down on a desk. It is also the cheapest way to get a raised lip all the way round.

The compromise is that soft plastics can yellow over time under UV, particularly clear ones. We use a stabilised compound and are straightforward about it: a printed coloured case will not show it, a clear one eventually will.

For pooled or shared devices this is usually the right answer, because it is fast to fit and forgiving when handled by many people who did not choose it.

Do clear TPU cases go yellow?
Eventually, under UV, yes — that is a property of the material and anyone claiming otherwise is overselling. A stabilised compound slows it considerably, and a printed coloured case never shows it.
TPU or polycarbonate?
TPU for grip, quiet and easy fitting. Polycarbonate for the sharpest print and the slimmest profile. A dual-layer case is simply both, which is why it is the default for real protection.
